Connect Your Core To The Chore
Exercise razz- ma-tazz gadgets and get ups pack nothing new.
You’re sold on the ‘have to have it’ emotional buy.
Eye catching and sensationally stimulating you don’t think past the present.
Well, of course you do, you think it is…
=> the answer to your laziness.
For the most part it’s just another variety of the same thing.
So, as a movement coach I only create new ways from old moves.
I don’t create any new base moves.
Those base moves are already installed. You just have to download the right combinations.
Push, pull, bend, reach and twist.
Every movement uses these singly or blends 2 or more.
Rarely does daily movement act singly.
Functional movement, that which you do daily, blends 2 or more of these.
Think about the moves you do and apply:
- Brushing your teeth: push, pull, & bend
- Walking: pull, reach, twist
- Weeding: bend, pull, reach, twist
- Getting in your car: reach, bend, pull.
Get it?
When do we really move singly?
We use our bodies as a base from which to move all ways, all day.
Your base is your core. Get stable at the core and you decrease the chance of injury by 30%.
That’s a lot, 30%.
I’ll bet it’s even more.
Connect your core to the chore.
No matter what. Do it.
Can you?
It’s starts with one thing.
Awareness.
Start tuning into what happens before you act.
You know that split moment before you do something as simple as wash the dishes or sweep the kitchen floor.
Maybe a little more complex like hand washing your car or weeding the raised bed.
Athletes do it all the time.
Pay attention to the places that you assume will get you what you want.
Here’s the most basic example.
Sitting on the john.
Have you fallen in lately?
Ever?
Chances are no, unless you had one too many.
You won’t fall if you hold onto yourself.
Sure, hold onto the sink too, but I’ll bet you automatically connect your core to the chore...or your duty, in this case.
By applying that simple awareness to everything you do you’ll fine tune that feeling of using your core.
Don’t get overwhelmed and don’t get tangled up in telling people that you want to get a strong core.
First understand what you’re talking about.
Connect your core to your chore.
Make it a golden rule.
You’ll be sure to not only avoid injury but you’ll heighten your body awareness and accelerate your learn possibly by another 30%.
